ReSound LiNX Hearing Aids - The Latest

ReSound are launching their LiNX hearing aids across this evening and tomorrow morning in the UK. Why is there all this excitement about a hearing aid?

Made For iPhone

The ReSound LiNX is the first Made For iPhone, or MFi, hearing aid. It allows you to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch directly to your hearing aid and listen to music, take a handsfree phone call, have a Facetime video call, or watch your favourite movie, all with the sound going wirelessly into your ears. There's no need for a separate bluetooth headset or intermediate necklace to go between the iPhone and the LiNX.

ReSound SMART App

Not only that, but with the SMART App, available from the App Store, allows you to adjust the volume and tone, and will even remember your favourite settings in different places using geo-tagging. For instance, when you go to your favourite restaurant or cafe, you might like to switch to the party setting, boost the treble and turn up the volume, but when you go to concerts at the Albert Hall, you might prefer the music setting, with the bass turned up and the volume turned down. The key is, that rather than having to wait for your Audiologist to adjust them for you, you can adjust your ReSound LiNX hearing aids to sound exactly the way you like.

One of my patients recently commented that she has just finished listening to John Lill play all Beethoven's piano sonatas at Cadogan Hall, and her ReSound Alera 9 hearing aids sounded great. The LiNX is two generations on from Alera, and I'm anticipating even better music reproduction and even more natural sounding speech. This is due to Surround Sound by ReSound, the unique technology and sound processing algorithm that they have continued to develop.

Speed, Power and Delicacy

ReSound LiNX contains their first dual-core processor, so it has all the speed necessary to reduce noise and enhance speech in the most demanding situations, while at the same time communicating with your iPhone, iPad or iPod using the 2.4 GHz MFi Bluetooth 4.0 protocol. It is also compatible with ReSound's new range of slim, power, high power and super power receivers (speaker units), so it can correct 90% of hearing losses. And the processor has been designed with efficiency in mind, so it is frugal - running on size 312 batteries. And add to that the fact that they have managed to squeeze all this technology into their smallest size 312 aid so far, and you have an impressive combination!
